Persepolis

In Persepolis the writer’s voice seems to be calm. She tells of a story, of a voice as if she has lived in it before. Is it appealing? It could be. But the way she tells of Marji, some parts of her reminds me of myself. Marji became a bit rebellious like me when I was young till now. You are a little angel to your parents, but as you grow older, you want your independents and rebel against your elders. But, Marji still listens too. I rebel against my parents, but from time to time, I still do listen. I like how Marji is so strong and stands up to what she believes in. She has such big confidence in herself, doesn’t let others put her down of her dreams. I like that about her. Wish I could be like that again. I was. It comes here and then every now and then. But I wish I could be strong and confident like Marji and not let others put me down. Pick myself up again when I am attack, stay strong and not let peoples words get to me. Man! Marji is SO COOL! But, that was before she began to follow others. I didn’t really like that about her. If they said this, ok, then she’ll believe instead of finding out what the truth is. I had that she would at least believe because she believes that it’s the truth. It’s like, the popular with the non-popular. They follow what the popular says and do, just to be like them or look good to them.
Though the citizens of Iran face oppressive regime, they still had time to have fun and laugh. Some people, like Marji’s people, would have parties sometimes even though they were not allowed to. Marji would go and buy things, such as cassettes and listen to them. The Iran people wouldn’t care if they got caught, they would risk their life anyway and do what is fun for them. The things that made me laugh was How Satrapi add comic relief was her pictures and Marji. The way she drew her pictures shows us or gives us an idea of how it was like when reading the text. And when I read the text and look at the picture, I see funny expressions. These scenes help gives us an idea of what Satrapi is saying. It gives us pictures.
Some captivity in the story that Satrapi gives is that the women had to wear the veil. If they did not wear it, then they would be punish. Boys and girls could not go to the same school. Men had to grow mustache or a beard. They could not go out of there country unless they were given the permission to a passport. Cassettes were banded. Parties were no longer able to be held. Everything that was fun was gone. The only freedom they had, was that boys and girls could still go to school, women could still go out, wear whatever they want, if only they had the veil to cover the whole body. The thing that keeps them from being free is the army or the person who is in charge of country. They change the world and the people to do what they ask of and so the people would over power those who rebel against. But still, the people still try to live as id nothing has happened. But they would take the risk of putting their life in danger. Do things without the people knowing and would have to try to be slick. They rebel against the rule of not having parties, cassettes, clothes they wear. All this is just like our society today. We have freedom, but only as in state freedom. Not freedom as in with family. You can’t date, you must be this, and you have to act like this, no! You cannot dye your hair; wear clothes that are below your knee, no shorts, and on and on and on. Our own identity is chosen for us. We can’t do or be what we want to be. I mean, just doing it in a good way, it’s still not good or ok for them.

Feed Project

In my feed, it contains all the things that I like or the things I would normally buy. The words in there are words that get to me. Buy me, beat, beauty, wow. My feed would know me, know what I would like. If you can see, my project color are all colors that I like (not orange though), but there is dark color pink, red, black, purple, and blue. My feed shows me clothes. I love clothes. I have piles and piles of clothes that build up in my room, in the basement and even in my sister’s room. My friends even say so too. My I touch. I can never leave that alone. That got me to be called I Pod. And there is jewelry. Who doesn’t like jewelry? So you ask why my feed would contain all of this. Because my feed knows me and gives me what I want, need, and like. It knows me like how your friends, boyfriend, parents, siblings would know you. Like for Titus and his gang. The feed know who they are, what they like and give them what they want. Violet knew. So instead of having them know what she likes and wants, she messes with the feed so they won’t know what she likes and want. So my feed contains what I want, need and like.
Like the media, consumerism, reliance on technology, and popular culture personality. And having all of those in my everyday life could be affective. There what we need everyday in our life and for us to be entertained and because we’re just lazy and need things to help us. Like technology. We use technology every time. There are cars, computer, our MP3, games like the Wii and the X box, and the list goes on and on. Media, consumerism reliance on technology, and popular culture personality mold us and we also mold them. But it began with them. They were the start that molded us. People began to invent, create. And build things cause its there passion. Once people began to get into it, the world began to build, create, and invent things that would lower us to them. To want to buy what they have to offer to us. Even for me I can’t stop liking what I see. I have to want and use it everyday of my life. The feed in the book cannot be resist. There is no way. The people in there have been living with it ever since they were born. It’s what the need to survive. The feed is like you heart, your lungs, or you brain. Without them, you cannot live. Your body won’t work anymore. You take it out and you’re completely dead because the feed to them is what keeps them to be smart. (I don’t mean smart as in educational smart.) An example would be Titus. He needed the feed to help him get a word to describe how violet is like. The people don’t go out and shop much. All they do is, “oh, I like that. Feed, I want it.” And it comes to your house. Violet. At the end, she didn’t want to die. She needed the feed. But sadly she didn’t get one and died. There life is evolving around the feed. Without it, they are nothing.

visual Essay - Feed

Media has been around us for a long time. It's what we the society use almost about...EVERYDAY. I use it, you use it, they use it! The people who are behind the media, the people who are in the media tries to get to society. Little kids i see today are growing up so fast because of the media. Girls who are so young go all crazy for Miley Cy...whatever that is spelled, Taylor Swift, Demi Lavato...All those young super stars ends up on the media and in an instant, kids go all CRAZY for them. What happend to those kids show!? I don't ever see kids talking or watching them anymore. Even my little sister, who is like only 4 years old don't even like to watch them. She watches like...teenage movies or shows. I'm around kids and there was this one time, i ask my cousin who is just the cutest, "Don't you think your pretty?" She gave me this weird look and was like..."No...I'm not pretty..." WTF! She is like...5 years old and already she thinks that she's not pretty enough. Not just her, but her friends and my little sister. My little sister, everyday would have to wear make up. She's already cute (big jealous that she is) and already wants to wear makeup. Where does she gets this. The media. People can't go on a day without the media. Honestly I too admit that i can't live without the media. It's good and it's bad. Why good? Because it helps tell what is going on in society today. Why Bad? Because it influences society a lot that it makes them compete with each other. The monkey picture. I took that one cause each of the monkey has a see no, hear no, talk of no...To what i see, it's like saying that they speak of non, hear of non, and talk of no media. The CNN, Fox news, The Insider...ECT...I know people who's not in the media at all. Teenagers talk about the gossip going on in the world with celebrity and they go..."What are you talking about?" To me...I like it, but there is also a part of me that i don't like about the media. It helps give me information about society today, but its also those gossips, the commercial, the things they tell teenagers...When ever i see them, i take it as a joke and complain. I don't freaken care if so and so broke up with each other. Ok...that's cute, but it's not like i can afford it. It annoys me a lot. Sometimes i hate it too because they give off messages that i don't think are appropriate. So in a way, i'm kind of like violet. She hates the feed, and i well...dislike the feed. Ah yes...The media is like the Feed. Or...the other way around. But people are so much into it...that they don't know what's to be around them. They follow to what the media says, and does, just like the charecters in the book, does and follow what the feed says. I've been in love with the media. All I could do is compete with others, be prettier, be this, that...But as i grew older, the more i isolate myself from it, the more better of an independent i became. I came to found who i was. What my identity is. With the media on you, it takes your identity away from you and make you someone else that you are not. Media will always grow into something big. There wont be a time, a day, that society wont stop using the media.

The chick who influences little kids....

I see of non, I hear of non, I speak of non

Media influences us, kids at a small age....

Media will never go away...Will always live in society
